How to Archive or Delete Groups
Save this page to your Edmodo Library
Remember that great assignment you created last year? You can quickly retrieve it, without needing to search through any extra classroom (or Edmodo) clutter! At the end of a school year, it’s a good idea to archive your Edmodo groups. Archiving a group makes that group inactive and removes it from your group lists. You will still be able to access that group, should you need to go back and view and restore any past activity from the group.
Note: Archiving a group also hides all group activity from your communication stream.
How to Archive Your Group
Once archived, students and you will not be able to reply or post anything to the group. Students in an archived group will still be able to direct message you, but the group activity is inactive. You can retrieve any previously created quizzes or assignments from your archived groups.
- Select the group name, then select “Group Settings” on the right panel.
- Select the “Archive Group” option in the settings window.
Note: If you want to reuse the name of a group, be sure to rename the existing group before archiving it. You will not be able to create a new group with the same name as any existing or archived group.

How to View Group or Restore Group after it is Archived
- Click the folders icon in the “Groups” section on the left panel of your homepage.
- In the pop-up box that appears, click the green arrow icon to restore your group.
Note: Once restored, the group will appear in your active group list and all members of that group will also have restored access.

How to Delete Your Group
If you created a group by mistake, you can easily delete the group.
Note: There is no need to delete the group if you simply need to change the name! You can do this in the group settings.
- Select the group name, then select “Group Settings” on the right panel.
- Select the “Delete Group” option in the settings window.
Note: You cannot restore a group after it has been deleted. Remember, if the group is no longer being used, the best practice is to archive the group.
