How to Have Users Join Your Group
Save this page to your Edmodo Library
After you have created your groups, have your members join! You need to share the 6-digit group code or “Join Group URL” with the members you would like in your group. Students, as well as teachers, only need one account to join many different groups on the one account.
How to Have Users Join Your Group
- Provide students (or fellow teachers) with the 6-digit group code or Select the “Join Group URL” located below the group code (learn more about the “Join Group URL” toward the bottom of this page in the “How to Use the Join Group URL” section).
- Distribute this unique, auto generated 6-digit group code or URL to members you would like in the group.

Then, if the student or teacher already has an Edmodo account, the user will:
- Login to his/her account.
- Click “Join” next to groups on the left side of the homepage.
- Type in the 6 digit group code in the pop up box (this is the code the owner of the group must provide you with) and click “Join”.
Or, if the student does not yet have an Edmodo account the user will:
- Visit Edmodo.com and select the “I’m a Student” button.
- Fill out the registration form with the group code, a unique username and password. An email address is not required for student signup.
- Select the “Sign up” button to complete the signup process. The student will then see the group you created on the left panel.
Note: Students only need one account. Students (or teachers) can add more groups on their account by clicking “join” and typing in any other group codes from other teachers.
How to Use the Join Group URL:
If you would like to post your group publicly so members can join your group, you can share the “Join Group URL“.
- Copy the “Join Group URL”, which is found on the right panel after clicking on a specific group.
- Distribute this URL with users you would like in the group.
- When a user clicks the link, you will get notified and will have to approve or deny each new member.
- Once you have all members in the group, be sure to lock your group.
